Hemusphere jams at Omni Lounge Darjeeling

The first ever live jam session at Omni, Darjeeling was a huge success with more than 100 people showing up on Sunday evening! "Hemusphere" consisting of Hemu, Chandan, Bhotay and Yugal were at their best with an American friend also joining the jamming. Folks stayed back till 1:00 am, can you believe that!!!

We are planning on acoustic/unplugged sessions from now on. Check us out this weekend.

The Omni Jam Session with HEMUSPHERE, Darjeeling

We are finally getting into live music sessions now. A lot of people have been advising on how Omni would be perfect for small acoustic & unplugged sessions. So we're trying to organise the first Omni Jam Sessions this Sunday evening with HEMUSPHERE (Hemu, Bhotay, Chandan and Yugal). Yes, they have agreed to perform for free this time. Dipank has been kind enough to lend his sound system and the regulars are thrilled with the news! The show starts at 6:30 pm and we hope to finish latest by 9pm, so that people can sit around and discuss music after that.

Darjeeling is full of people who are into music. Most of them aren't into mainstram but most of them are good singers and play the guitar or some instrument fairly well. We will be encouraging these people to come and jam at Omni. We are thinking more like friends gathering and enjoying good music, like we used to do during college days. Got the point? Jamming, thats what we mean, plain and simple jamming. So if ur interested in doing some music for fun drop in at Omni and we can figure out an evening and get all the guys together.

Omni Lounge Darjeling_7 weeks on

Phew! Its already been 7 weeks since we opened and time seems to have flown. I am getting used to standing behind the bar working night shifts. The joke is that we are similiar to the BPOs of our metros. When everyone goes back home from work Suraj and I start our evening grind at Omni!!!
Who said there's no night life in Darjeeling. Come to Omni Lounge and you'll find guys sitting and chatting till midnight. We broke the record last night and closed at 1:30 am. Can you beat that?! I have always enjoyed talking to people, so this is the perfect place and job to meet up with a lot of interesting people and chat. I cant make cocktails or mocktails so I move around and sit down with our guests and friends. Change the music according to the mood and make sure that everyone's being served well. As I said earlier, it feels like entertaining guests at home.

Still haven't visited Omni, what are you waiting for? Walk right in this evening. We got Lounge, Jazz, Acid Jazz, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop and World Music. Come and Chill...

Omni Lounge Regulars

Omni Lounge has some very faithful friends and regular customers. These very guys have been there ever since the concept of opening a Lounge in Darjeeling was discussed. They have been there when the place was being renovated and they were there whenever we faced obstacles or faltered along the way, ready to push us on, lend a helping hand and all excited about the new place.

Omni Lounge Darjeeling_April Updates

April has been a good month for all of us at Omni. Now that word has spread about the new Lounge in Darjeeling people have started dropping by in the evenings. Have collected a fairly large number of Lounge, Acid Jazz and R&B songs from Roshan and Gatty - hard disk space occupied-10GB! Haven't had the oppurtunity to do a photo shoot of my very own place, can you believe that!!? The uploads of today are all taken from my mobile phone, so pls dont judge the pic quality. Yes, that is Suraj (KAKU) making one of his heady cocktails!

Krystal's Birthday at Omni Lounge Darjeeling

As expected, everyone had a blast on Krystal's birthday at Omni Lounge last Friday. The booze was flowing and the dancing shoes were on. People liked the Indian cuisine laid out by Chef Nima and ofcourse Kaku's cocktails and mocktails were a hit. Had to shove some really sloshed guys into Vivek's van and reach them home, but that comes with the package!

First Private Party at Omni Lounge Darjeeling

We organised the first private party yesterday evening at our lounge! CHAI Project's donors from Starbucks USA were in town and they wanted to have a party before they left Darjeeling. Was good to see the CHAI and DEG guys enjoying the new place and savouring the Chinese delicacies provided by our Chef Nima. Suraj was busy concocting mocktail and enthralling the ladies with his skills! I was more into PR and serving the drinks and controlling the CHAI Project guys from going overboard with their drinks.

We have another big party coming up on Friday. John's wife Krystal will be celebrating her birthday and we are planning a surprise from our side for her. Ruben is busy testing the sound system and is planning to get the people dancing on Hip Hop and R&B. Suraj wants to do Indian cuisine for this party and also serve up some special heady cocktails. Seems like everyone's gonna get sloshed this Friday night! BURP...
